12 days before sailing...

To complement our 12 day cruise into the fjords of Norway, we decided to extend our vacation by spending 5 days in Berlin after the cruise. Mom and I have never been to Germany, and after much back and forth about what would be the best way to check this 'Bucket List' item off of our list, we opted for a stay in this historical capital.

Points in hands, I was able to book flights to Copenhagen and from Berlin, and a couple hotel nights at the Hilton. All we needed was to get from Copenhagen to Berlin after the cruise. Lucky enough, I got a 1 € fligth on SAS!!! Not bad!!! But this was done months ago...

This weekend, with 12 days to go, I woke up from my little afternoon nap in a panic... I forgot to look at what were the requirements for Canadians to get into Germany... I remember a cruise we took to the Baltic in 2003 where we could not get off the ship in Warnemunde because we didn't have a visa. I guess the rules changed as I checked on the Consulate website and was reassured that no visa were required for our visit! Thank God... the last thing I needed this week was to run around to get visas with less than 2 weeks to go!!

So the final countdown has begun...
Get new shoes - Check
Take suitcases out to start putting important things you don't want to forget - Check
Get a new Memory Stick for Camera - Check
Get a new backpack on wheels - not Check... still have to do that...
